ALMOST INVISIBLE PROTECTION

Osmo Polyx®-Oils are developed from natural oils and waxes to provide the most hardwearing and durable protection for wooden flooring and furniture.

Untreated wood in its original form has a light, pale character from its natural ‘raw’ appearance. Sanded wood also has the same effect. Osmo Polyx®-Oil 3044 Raw is designed to retain this appearance by using a small amount of white pigments to neutralise the permanent ‘wet-look’ that develops after application of a clear finish.

Apply very thinly and brush out any white pigments from the surface before leaving to dry to acheive the desired results.

Osmo Polyx Oil Raw (3044) forms part of Osmo’s range of interior finishing oils and offers the same unrivaled protection as the original Osmo Polyx Oil.

New untreated wood in its original form has a light, pale character from its natural ‘raw’ appearance. Sanded wood also has this effect. Osmo Polyx Oil Raw is designed to retain this appearance by using a small amount of white pigments to counteract the darker ‘damp-look’ that develops after application of a clear oil or varnish finish.

F.A.Q.

Is this recommended for sandblasted or rough wood?

Probably not because the small content of white pigment in this product tends to collect in the grooves and other rough areas of the wood to show through more.

I've heard this product can produce a white look, is this true?

THIN application is very, very important. If too much is applied then the small amount of white pigment in this product can remain on the surface to give a patchy or milky appearance. The product needs to be worked into the wood so that very little remains on the surface. Also the darker the wood is (prior to application) the more likely the white residue is to remain. Whilst some people don't want the slight white look, others find it quite desirable

Can i use a steam cleaner or steam mop to clean my oiled floor?

In short, 'No'. Oiled and waxed finishes on floors are 'Micro-porous' which means that although the wood is protected, it can still breath as it is not completely sealed.

Cleaning oiled or waxed floors with a steam cleaner or steam mop introduces high temperature and pressure water which can penetrate and strip oiled or waxed finishes. Steam cleaners can also potentially damage wooden flooring.

Can Polyx Oil Raw be used on solid doors?

Although you could use this on solid doors, we would instead recommend Osmo Door Oil 3033 . This will give you a similar look as it is also designed to keep the light appearance of timber. This is specifically designed for doors as wax content in this product helps with the resistance of finger marks.

Can Osmo 3044 be used on MDF?

Absolutely, just be aware that MDF tends to be a very porous substrate so the Polyx Oil with soak in well, meaning you may use more than the usual coverage allows. Try a test area before completing the project.
